2018 honda accord for sale courtenay bcBeing a woman is great. Buying a car? Also fantastic. Sometimes, though, if you’re a lady who wants to purchase a vehicle, it can be a challenge.

I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be. Follow these tips and your car-buying experience will be much easier.

1. Shop at a respectful dealership.
A large part of your experience buying a vehicle comes down to where you choose to shop. By patronizing only dealerships that know how to treat women properly (in other words, the same as men), you will have a far better shot at the service you expect. At Island Honda, we are ready to provide the utmost in sales professionalism so you can find the car of your dreams.

2. Know what you want.
By having a good idea what you want before you head in for a test drive, you can cut out unnecessary time spent at the dealership. Having done your research can also help you know which questions to ask, and that will make you feel even more confident.

3. Be prepared to walk away.
If you aren’t seeing anything you like, you need to be ready to leave without a new car. Disappointing though that prospect may be, you should try out another dealership that might have what you’re looking for. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.

At Island Honda, we’re all about helping to put you behind the wheel of your dream vehicle, and we do it with respect and compassion. Stop by and test
drive a 2018 Accord, the Canadian Car of the Year. We look forward to assisting you!

The 2018 Honda Civic is Perfect for Your Daughter to Learn to Drive in Courtenay, BC

If you’re a young person just learning to drive, you’re in luck. Honda is a reliable brand perfect for your first car. If your mother is reading this, she should know, too: from Civics to Accords, you’ll find exactly what you need at our dealership.

Why is Honda so great for young ladies learning to drive? Well, for starters, there’s the manufacturer’s reliability. Some vehicles, like the Odyssey, are among those from all makers most likely to be in service after over 300,000
kilometres. That’s a pretty impressive statistic! In addition, our preowned cars tend to still have an awful lot of time left on the road, thanks to their incredible value.

Purchasing a preowned vehicle for your teenager is a good choice. If you’d been hoping to get something fresh for yourself anyway, though, buying a 2018 or 2019 to teach new drivers on can work well, too. Down the line, when you’re ready for another car, the Honda will still be in great order and can be passed along to your daughter.

Want to stop by and test drive
the 2018 Civic or Accord, which was the Canadian Car of the Year? It will definitely give your young lady a thrill, and we promise you’ll both love what the manufacturer has to offer. Hurry in to Island Honda today and let us set you up for this exciting next step!
Ladies, if you’re anything like me, you love learning about cars. You hate when people act as though you shouldn’t know things relevant to the auto industry because you’re a woman. There’s just something about the oomph of an engine turning over that excites you.

Have you taken a look at the new 2018 Honda HRV LX? This excellent crossover boasts 8.3 highway, 6.9 city km/L, so you know at the outset it will at least save you some money. It’s totally up-to-date, with remote entry and heated front seats. Even better, it’s built to last, thanks to 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

The HRV starts strong with a 1.8-litre, 16-valve, 4-cylinder engine. It can offer 141 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 121 pound-feet of torque at 4,300 rpm. It has a variable transmission and Eco-Assist system to help save on fuel.

You’ll always drive in comfort in the HRV, thanks to 60/40 split second-row seats and a single-zone climate system with air filtration. HondaLink helps you to stay connected, and you can listen to your music on the radio, a CD, as an mp3, or as a wmv.

If the 2018 HRV LX sounds like the vehicle for you, stop by your Island Honda dealer today and take a test drive. You’re sure to be impressed!
There’s something so satisfying about understanding how a car works the way it does. Especially as a woman, it’s fun to defy stereotypes in this manner. From pistons to alternators, the parts of your vehicle all play an important role in its performance. Every make and model is just a bit different because their components vary ever so slightly. That’s why knowing more regarding the specs of an automobile can be so helpful.

Take, for instance, the 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L Res. This brand new vehicle is well known for its excellent interior space (929 cubic litres behind the third row) and driver legroom (1,040 cubic millimetres). Did you know, though, that the minivan also boasts 280 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 262 torque at 4,700 rpm? That’s impressive stuff!

The Odyssey is great when it comes to emissions, ranking at Tier 3 Bin 125. You’ll help the environment even more while you drive it, thanks to 8.4 city and 1.6 km/L highway.

This minivan has excellent ground clearance, at 148 millimetres, so rougher terrain won’t be a burden. It’s not so high, though, that it’s difficult for little ones to get in and out. A conversation mirror and attached sunglass holder is also a nice touch if you’re traveling with children.

Stop by Island Honda today and learn even more about the specs of the 2019 Odyssey EX-L Res. You’re sure to like what you hear, so take a test drive, too!
If you love learning about cars and all they have to offer, you’ll probably be interested to know a bit more regarding the 2018 Honda Fit Sport. A subcompact with style, this vehicle is athletic and packs a real punch. It’s the perfect choice for everyone from businesswomen on the go to moms with lots to haul.

We all worry about gas mileage. Fortunately, the Fit Sport gets 31 city mpg or 13.2 km/L, making it ideal for ladies on the go. No matter where you’re headed each day, you’ll appreciate this subcompact’s 57.2 cubic feet of cargo space, which is more than able to accommodate you.

Under the hood, this Honda features a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine
and a continuously variable transmission. It’s also extremely fun to drive, thanks to 128 horsepower and 113 foot-pounds of torque.

The Fit Sport boasts a WiFi hotspot, heated seats, and a leather steering wheel, all making you feel pampered and comfortable. A recent assessment by Canadian Auto Review was impressed with the vehicle, saying it’s “better than it should be” for the price. Hatch and front spoilers, 16-inch glossy black aluminum wheels, and subtle orange body pinstripes contributed to its higher-end appeal.

2018 honda fit sport for sale courtenay duncan bcIf you’re in the market for a new or preowned vehicle in Duncan or Comox Valley, BC, you’ve come to the right place. Car buying can be tough for women for a variety of reasons. We are trained to believe that we know less about the auto industry and how things work under the hood. Many people, men and other ladies alike, believe this, as well. Age is also a factor. If you are both young and female, walking into a dealership is often very intimidating.

I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t need to be. Here are several tips for ensuring a pleasant and productive car-buying experience.

1. Do your research. Don’t expect to stroll into a dealership with limited background information and walk away with a fantastic deal on your next vehicle. You’ll need to arm yourself with specs and prices. It pays to know how much people are paying in your area for the cars you’re looking at.

2. Expect respect. Island Honda is one of many dealerships whose sales staff are courteous and respectful, no matter who you are. If you have experienced less than this anywhere in the past, don’t go back. It’s that simple.

3. Take as long as you need. I once took a guided test drive that was essentially only around the block. Make sure the salesperson you are working with knows about your commute and the type of driving you’re used to so you can mimic it while out on the road.

Ready to stop in for a test drive? The 2018 Honda Fit Sport is a fantastic vehicle just begging to be taken out for a spin. Hurry in today!
honda civic for sale nanaimo duncan bcLadies: who has experienced the following while shopping for a car?

-Being talked down to, as if you know nothing about vehicles
-Being ignored
-Having a salesperson speak only to
your husband, father, or brother
-Feeling trapped or manipulated

The sad truth is some dealerships don’t train their sales team to treat women properly during the car-buying process. At Island Honda, we think that’s unacceptable. According to the Chicago Tribune, female shoppers are more inquisitive and crave a sales experience that lets them talk about the features of a vehicle. As ladies, we need to feel listened to so we can be comfortable asking the right questions.

Island Honda is all about catering to your needs. We are happy to answer any and all questions you might have, and we’ll take as much time as you need to make you feel comfortable and satisfied. Women love cars, know the auto industry, and spend just as much time on the road as their male counterparts. It’s time to elevate your car-buying experience.

If you’re ready to test drive a new Civic or Odyssey, stop by your Island Honda dealer today. One of our friendly, courteous salespeople will be ready to help you find the car of your dreams!
car buying for women nanaimo duncan bcAfter many years of driving hand-me-down cars, it was finally my year--time to buy my own vehicle for the first time. I was nervous, not knowing quite what to expect at the dealership. Horror stories from friends and family about pushy salespeople made me anxious. I researched as much as I could ahead of time and even arranged for a private loan.

What happened when I went
in to shop was another story. I knew I wanted to test drive a specific vehicle. I come from a family loyal to the brand, and that year’s model was feature-laden. Deep down, I knew I was ready to leave that day in a new car. I didn’t want the salesperson to know that, though!

After a very brief test drive during which I found myself wondering “shouldn’t this be longer?,” I learned virtually nothing about the vehicle. Negotiations with the sales department were awkward; I told them the price I was willing to pay and they pushed back harder than I was ready for. I stood firm, though. When I went to sign the paperwork, I was talked down to and confused, ultimately signing up for services I didn’t want.

Granted, this was a long time ago, and I was young. But there’s a moral to this story. Never, ever let anyone treat you like a buyer who doesn’t know what they want or
need. Tell the salesperson when you’re done with the test drive. Don’t stop because they tell you to. Be prepared to walk away from the sale, no matter how badly you want the car. And stand firm to your service agreement and loan decisions. No one can make you do anything!

Fortunately, at Island Honda, there aren’t pushy salespeople. Women aren’t talked down to or manipulated. If you’re in the market for a new car, we’ll be happy to make the buying process comfortable for you. Stop in today and let us help you! Ladies, you deserve better!

http://islandhonda.ca/women-auto-trendsBack in 2016, the Japanese government decided it was time for more women to get the high-level business positions that they deserved. Their goal was for 30% of the nation’s corporate leadership roles to be filled by women by 2020. We’ve got two years to go, but Honda Motor Co. started right away.

Asako Suzuki was Honda’s first female senior executive. She worked her way up the corporate ladder and was internally promoted to her current role.

In 2014,
Hideko Kunii was the first woman named to Honda’s board of directors. A technology expert, she studied at San Jose University and the University of Texas at Austin and previously worked for the Japanese electronics company Ricoh. She is now in charge of promoting gender equality at the university in Tokyo.

The auto industry is a space where women belong, period. You deserve to feel confident and excited during the car-buying process and every day when you’re out on the road. The more strong female voices we have at every level, from Honda executives to mechanics to sales, the better the future of every woman’s vehicle experience.

We’ll help find what you need on your terms at Island Honda. Stop by today. We can’t wait to serve you!

Welcome to the first Island Honda Women in Auto Trends blog post! If you’re here, you probably already love cars and want to learn more about your next one. We’re here to tell you that we’re committed to catering to your specific goals and to providing the kind of sales and service you dream of.

Even though it was traditionally considered a more “masculine” hobby, so many women adore cars. There’s just something about the guttural oomph of an engine’s roar and the rush of driving with the top down on a summer’s day that makes it hard not to fall in love. We get it. We’re
exacly like you in that regard.

Honda runs smoothly on the expertise and great communication styles of trailblazing women in the auto industry. All the way from the company’s top executives to the sales associates at our dealership, we are focused on you and what you need in your next car. No matter your age or life stage, we’d love to help find what you’re looking for.
